City break – “Decide on the ideal base colour for your client, but a light spray tan would be most suitable for this type of holiday,” says Kissed by Mii tanning expert Shelly Henderson. 

Beach holiday – “The key is to choose a shade based on the depth of tan a client desires rather than focusing on their original skin tone. If the client wants a ‘week in the sun’ look then choose a medium,” says Alyson Hogg, founder and chief executive of Vita Liberata. 

Two-week haul – “If they’re going on a plane, air conditioning can leave the skin dehydrated, which can cause the tan to fade. Use a shade darker than normal so by the time the client gets to their destination the tan is still going strong,” says Jules Heptonstall, freelance spray tanner and St Tropez skin-finishing expert.
