The best beauty looks from the 2025 MTV VMAs

Published 08th Sep 2025

On 7 September, the 2025 MTV VMAs celebrated music’s biggest stars in New York City — but the red carpet proved just as memorable for its show-stopping makeup and nail looks.

From bold lips to intricate manicures, here are the standout beauty moments, as chosen by the Professional Beauty team.

Doja Cat's bold rep lip

The award winner paused her walk on the red carpet to reapply her striking red ‘lipstick’ – MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Lady Danger, paired with MAC’s Lip Pencil in Cherry.

However, in a fun twist, eagled-eyed fans will have spotted that it wasn’t actually makeup being reapplied, but an edible creation from The Chocolate Guy.

The lip combo was perfectly complemented with a classic smoky winged liner, exuding old Hollywood glamour – a look that LA-based makeup artist Ivan Núñez has mastered.

Lola Young's pretty pink blush

Known for her grunge-meets-streetwear style, Lola Young’s Chanel ensemble surprised fans at the VMAs by leaning into a more refined aesthetic.

While her outfit was black and white, makeup artist Jamie Diaz elevated the look with a luminous pink blush and long, wispy lashes.

To match her maximalist jewellery, the singer sported sleek black nails with an extra-long white French tip. Tying the whole look together, nail artist Coca Michelle added gold baroque button embellishments, mirroring those on the black bustier.

Moliy's vibrant nails

American-Ghanaian singer and songwriter Moliy wowed on the red carpet in a vibrant apple green sequin dress by Theophilio.

While her soft glam featured a glossy nude lip and classic winged liner, it was her nails that really stole the show.

Crafted by @mutha.nailture on Instagram, the lime green and electric blue square-shaped press-ons featured 3D splash prints and drip marks, complementing the performer’s bright blue extensions.

Sabrina Carpenter's lovely lilac eyeshadow

Performing at the VMAs, Sabrina Carpenter wowed fans with multiple looks, including a sheer red lace gown and a silver tassel mini dress.

However, our favourite was the embellished black dress she wore on stage to accept her 'Moonman' trophies. While the dress itself featured some fun pops of colour, her makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez amped up the look even further with a shimmery lilac eye look and her trademark pink blush.

When it came to her nails, LA-based nail artist and OPI ambassador Zola Ganzorigt created a show-stopping bejewelled French manicure, adding a finishing touch of sparkle to an already dazzling outfit.
