Beauty professionals Heather and Tiffany Hughes have launched The Balanced Beauty Pro, an online programme to help beauty service professionals care for their bodies while extending the longevity of their career.
Heather Hughes, a somatic movement educator and former UK director of Novalash, and her sister Tiffany, a lash artist, have over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry between.
They created the new wellness course business for beauty service professionals having seen and experienced the physical toll that beauty therapy work can take on the body.
"As a lash artist, I have seen and experienced first-hand the physical demands of beauty services," said Tiffany. "We learn the skills to offer our services, but we are rarely taught how to maintain and support our bodies, even though our bodies are vital to our careers."
What does the programme do and who is it for?
Beauty therapists, aestheticians, lash and nail technicians, hairdressers, and other beauty service providers all have jobs that take a significant toll on their body.
Common aliments include; chronic tension, fatigue, poor posture, pain and discomfort. The Balanced Beauty Pro has therefore been created to address this long-overlooked issue within the industry.
The course will teach a form of Somatic Movement that works alongside your nervous system to reduce tension and pain with long lasting effects. The exercises within the programme address common aliments seen amongst beauty professionals and bring balance back to the body.

What is included?
The programme will provide therapists with education on postural awareness, the nervous system connection, and ergonomics, all accessible online.
It has been created with busy professionals in mind with digestible information and at-home exercises designed to be completed in 15-20 minutes per day in order to complete the course within 4-6 weeks.
"After completion, students will have a daily corrective routine they can use for life to safeguard their careers and protect their bodies, all for the price of a few massages," said Heather.
"We want to empower professionals to value their bodies and learn how to care for themselves so they can continue doing the job they love with ease and comfort for as long as possible."
