New north London wellness studio will feature eight treatment rooms, couples’ massage spaces and personalised bodywork treatments
Masaj has announced the opening of a new massage studio in Islington Square, north London, marking the brand’s latest expansion in the capital’s wellness market.
Located at 116J Upper Street, London, N1 1QP, the new Masaj studio is due to open on June 18, 2026 and will operate seven days a week.
The Islington Square location will offer the same treatment menu as the company’s existing studios, including deep tissue massage, sports massage, pregnancy massage, restorative full-body treatments, targeted tension relief sessions and its signature Facework treatments.

According to the company, the new studio has been designed to provide a calm and restorative environment away from the pace of central London.
The site includes eight treatment rooms, including a fully accessible treatment room and two couples’ treatment rooms located on the ground floor.
Masaj said the studio design combines “modern hospitality, minimalist architecture and clinical precision softened by human touch”, with organic finishes and sensory-focused interiors intended to support relaxation and wellbeing.
Opening hours for the Islington Square studio will be Monday to Sunday from 08:00 to 21:45, with alternating Wednesdays operating from 15:00 to 21:45.
The company will also launch a founding membership for early clients at the Islington Square location, offering access to introductory pricing and launch incentives.
Personalised massage treatments and bodywork
Masaj describes its approach as focused on personalised bodywork rather than scripted spa treatments or fixed treatment routines.
The company said treatments are shaped by the therapist and guest during the session, with practitioners selected for their individual expertise and treatment style.
Co-founders Alice Vaughan and Scarlet Amies said, “With this new studio, we wanted to create somewhere that moves at a different pace to the city. A place to step away, reset, and reconnect with your body.
“For us, it’s important that every guest feels seen, supported, and completely at ease from the moment they walk in. It’s also the next step in our mission to raise the bar for London’s best Bodyworkers, creating beautiful, safe and supportive environments where Therapists can do their best work and feel truly championed.”
What is Masaj?
Masaj is a London-based wellness and bodywork brand operating studios in Islington, Shoreditch and Marylebone. The company describes its approach as sitting between clinical therapy and traditional spa treatments, with treatments tailored by therapists rather than following fixed routines.
The business is built around two principles: “Seriously good massage, for every body” and “Same standards, every studio”. According to the company, its focus is on creating accessible and inclusive spaces for massage and bodywork treatments.
Masaj said its treatments are designed for people looking to incorporate massage and recovery into their regular wellbeing routine, rather than treating massage as an occasional luxury experience.
The company currently reports more than 11,000 five-star reviews and a therapist retention rate of 90% across its London studios.
Islington Square adds new wellness operator
Islington Square is a mixed-use shopping, dining and leisure destination on Upper Street, located between Angel and Highbury & Islington. Georgia Perry-Hilsdon, cice president at Cain on behalf of Islington Square, said the business was a strong fit for the development’s wellness and lifestyle offering.
She said, “We’re really excited to be welcoming Masaj to Islington Square. They’ve built a strong reputation in London for creating thoughtful, modern wellness spaces and are a great fit for the destination.
“Their arrival adds another layer to the mix here, giving visitors a place to slow down, recharge and prioritise wellbeing in the middle of busy city life.”
