The National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) has appointed its 2024 board members.
Following voting last month, the newest additions to the board will officially start from the Annual General Meeting scheduled for July 2024.
NHBF chief executive Caroline Larissey said: “I am delighted to welcome NHBF’s newest board members. Each brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will undoubtedly strengthen NHBF’s mission of promoting safe, legal, and profitable salon businesses.”
Debbie Digby, a stalwart in the hairdressing industry with 45 years of experience, joins the board bringing her expertise as the founding partner of Feathers Salon Group and chief executive of Passion4hair.
With a deep understanding of the industry’s challenges and opportunities, Digby's vision for professionalism aligns with NHBF’s objectives. She said: “I’m looking forward to being a board member of the NHBF to contribute and learn as the industry navigates change and moves into the future.”
Louise Fordham, an advocate for creating inclusive and supportive work environments, brings her experience as a salon owner of Bespoke Hairdressing, Rugby, and her background in leadership and management to the board.
She has a commitment to promoting unity and inclusion. Fordham commented on her appointment: “Through my role with NHBF, I will be a passionate advocate for best practice that encourages creativity and diversity within our industry. In our salon, we get to make people happy every single day and that’s why it’s such a great world to be part of.”
Completing the trio is Richard Marshall. Founder of Pall Mall barbers in London and New York, Richard is a respected figure in the barbering world known for his dedication to elevating industry standards. Richard’s appointment heralds a new era of innovation and positive change within NHBF and the broader sector.
On appointment to the role Marshall said: “For me, it’s about giving back and adding value to much loved. When I was 16 at college, I used to compete at NHBF competitions, and many years later I get to add my 36 years’ experience back into shaping our industry. I’m really excited to be adding as much value as possible and making a different at every level.”
The NHBF also congratulated Beverley Bates for securing a second term as a board member, reaffirming her dedication to the organisation and the sector.
Meanwhile, Jamie Mettyear has been promoted to the position of vice president. Mettyear has been serving as a board member for several years and this promotion is a recognition of his hard work, commitment, and contributions to the organisation.
