2015 National Spa Week dates announced

The dates for the 2015 National Spa Week (NSW) have been announced.

The initiative, organised by the UK Spa Association and designed to highlight the benefits of spa, will this year take place November 2-6.

Research shows that only 8% of the UK population regularly visit spas, and the UK Spa Association is hoping National Spa Week will help bring the number up to a minimum of 10% by 2017.

Now in its 10th year, National Spa Week expects to this year attract hundreds of spas and salons across the country to participate, with more than 50 having already signed up.

The theme for the 2015 event is Meet & Treat, with the organisers offering a list of suggested activities that participating spas and salons can provide to draw clients in.

The list includes allowing clients to bring a friend for free, offering complimentary taster treatments and creating a menu of treatments for an affordable £25, especially for NSW.

NSW will be accompanied by a nationwide marketing campaign, expected to reach 30 million consumers and starting in July.  As in 2014, NSW will this year collaborate with the Macmillan Cancer Support to raise funds for the charity.

The UK Spa Association's Liz Holmes said: “National Spa Week is simply the best way for our industry to promote what we do by getting the message out to the public that going to the spa is not just great for your health, it’s a great way to have a fun, sociable time while raising money for a good cause."

Q Hotels and Virgin Active are among those who have already signed up to the initiative, with products houses also encouraged to participate, by, for example, donating products and gifts sets to national competitions.

Participation in NSW is free for UK Spa Association members, costing £100 for non-members.
