Beauty brands are getting behind charitable causes this month, raising money for organisations including the Global Alliance of Vaccines and Immunisations (GAVI) and the Philippines disaster relief.

Shared Beauty Secrets, the UK distributor of Lava Shells, is calling on its salon and spa clients to raise money for organisations working in Philippines, by offering promotions on Lava Shells treatments.

Clare Anderson, director of Shared Beauty Secrets, made suggestions such as offering reduced Lava Shells treatments and donating all the proceeds to charity or offering a free Lava Shells treatment as a raffle prize and donating ticket costs to charity.  “I have been really touched by the support our accounted have shown,” said Anderson. “I feel between us, we will be able to make a real difference to the families in the Philippines.

Elsewhere Elemis has donated more than £36,000 to the GAVI, to help immunise children in Africa against five common diseases. The brand raised the money through sales of the Papaya Enzyme Peel limited edition, which contains active ingredients sourced form Kenya and Congo.

Oriele Franks, Elemis’s marketing director, said, “Every year, Elemis looks for a new opportunity where we can give something back to the community. We felt it would be fantastic to give something back to the countries that provide us with such wonderful extracts.”
