Luxury spa opens in council-owned leisure centre

A luxury spa has opened in a council-owned YMCA health and fitness centre in Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire.

Spa on the Breck was designed by Dale Sauna, a manufacturer and supplier of saunas and steam rooms, for Wyre Council and has officially launched in the YMCA Poulton Health and Fitness Centre. The new spa facilities mark the completion of the first phase of Wyre Council’s £5.1m plans to reinvent leisure in the borough.

Working for contractor ISG, the brief was to create a modern spa with “wow factor” that guests could use on a daily basis. The only spa of its kind in the area, Spa on the Breck offers a range of thermal experiences, including a 3m spa pool, pine sauna, tiled steam room, tiled aromatherapy room, tiled salt room, two monsoon showers, an ice feature and tiled, heated benches.

The spa’s colour pallete features warm, earthy tones in the thermal experience areas, aromatherapy room and relaxation bench area; while blue, grey and monochrome are found in the ice feature, salt room and steam room.

Clients can take advantage of all of the thermal experiences as part of the Spa Journey, which is priced at £15 for two hours. The spa also offers a selection of pamper days, spa gifts, party and hire packages.

“We are delighted to have worked with ISG and Wyre Council on this prestigious project. This development is part of a growing trend amongst local authority and trust operators, who are broadening their health and fitness services to provide a wider wellness offering, which has a much broader appeal across the age ranges,” said Gerard McCarthy, sales director at Dale Sauna.
