Minor Hotel Group to open first Seychelles property
The Minor Hotel Group is set to reopen the former Le Meridien Barbarons Beach Hotel in the Seychelles as the Avani Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa in the last quarter of the year.
Currently closed for an eight-month renovation, the property is set to reopen at the end of 2014, following a US$8 million (£5m) revamp. Facilities at the renovated 124-room and suite resort will include a 600m beach, two restaurants and bars, a pool, a gym and a rooftop terrace with a sundeck.
The hotel spa will feature one couples’ and three single treatment rooms, in addition to plunge pool and steam room facilities. The spa will also incorporate a family-friendly garden play area for children.
Among other services and amenities at the resort will be a library, a children’s club, water sports such as snorkelling and kayaking and meeting and events facilities that include a ballroom and two boardrooms.
Dillip Rajakarier, chief executive of the Minor Hotel Group, said: "We are excited to add to our Avani portfolio with a resort in the Seychelles, a new country of operation for Minor, later this year."
