PB Q&A: Uniforms supplier Simon Jersey
Professional Beauty meets Helen Harker, design manager of Simon Jersey, to discuss what they have in store for Professional Beauty visitors.
What is the background of the company and what type of products do you offer?
Simon Jersey supplies uniforms to a wide range of businesses across the UK. We work with customers of any size from just one member of staff up to national businesses with thousands of team members.
What is your most popular product and what do you think makes it popular?
Our black asymmetrical tunic is still our top seller as it is simple, stylish, suits a range of body shapes and has features such as an action back that make it comfortable to wear in the salon.
The black contrast lapel tunic with cobalt blue detailing has also been one of our most popular tunics since we added it to the range in 2013. The flash of blue, which has been one of the hottest colours on the high street, really stands out in the salon and the popularity of the tunic led to us adding a contrast lapel dress to the range.
What makes your products special over the competition?
At Simon jersey we understand that our beauty customers want uniforms that not only look stylish and stand out from the crowd but are fully functional too.
Our range includes fashionable styles and shapes but we add touches such as double action backs in our tunics to make them practical and easy to move in when giving treatments. We also fully test all of our garments to ensure that they are durable and stay looking good wash after wash.
New garments are added to the range every year and we source our inspiration everywhere from the catwalk to the high street. We then translate that into garments that will work for the salon or spa. For example, this year we’ve added a range of tunics in this year’s key graphite, mulberry and raspberry shades to keep teams looking their best and feeling stylish in their roles.
How cost effective are your products when introducing them into a salon?
One of the key benefits of buying from Simon Jersey is that our garments stay in the range for six years on average. That’s great news for salon owners as it means that they can be sure their preferred uniform will stay in stock and they can buy new items as needed, rather than having to replace the whole uniform if the team changes.
Why should salon owners visit your stand at the show?
Salon owners visiting our stand (N31) will be able to take a look at our latest styles, place orders and pick up their Simon Jersey beauty catalogue. We’ll have an exclusive show discount available for anyone who makes a purchase at Professional Beauty London.
Our team will also be on hand to offer advice on creating stylish, practical uniforms to dress a team.
Are you having anything new on your stand at the show?
Visitors to the show will be among the first to see the latest products that have been added to our range. These include our cobalt blue scooped angle neckline tunic and contrast lapel dress with cobalt blue detailing. This striking colour has been hot on the high street over the last couple of seasons and we’ve found that our beauty customers really love it.
We’ll also be showing our new range of tunics in Raspberry, Graphite and Mulberry as well as our complementary sashes that help create a stylish look.
