Westin appoints Arianna Huffington to Wellbeing Council
Westin Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of The Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington to its Westin Wellbeing Council. The council is part of the hotel group’s US$15 million (£9m) Westin Wellbeing initiative, which launched on March 20 and is designed to help guests lead healthier lives.
Huffington will serve as a council expert for the initiative’s Work Well pillar, which alongside the Feel Well, Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well and Play Well components, make up the foundations of the worldwide wellness programme. Huffington is the second appointment to be made to the council and joins Andy Puddicombe, co-founder of online meditation services provider Headspace, an advisor for the Feel Well pillar.
Huffington’s role on the council will include contributing content to the Westin Wellbeing website and the brand’s social media outlets; offering advice on how to achieve wellbeing in your professional life. Huffington said: "I'm delighted to be joining Westin's Wellbeing Council. When we include wellbeing in our definition of success, we see the benefits in every aspect of our lives. Together we'll be helping Westin guests around the world take steps to practice wellbeing in their professional lives.”
Brian Povinelli, global brand leader for Westin Hotels & Resorts, said: "We are thrilled to have Arianna as the newest addition to the Westin Well-being Council. The way Arianna is helping to re-define what success in today's world means is well aligned with our values and Work Well pillar."
