Work begins on the spa at Yorkshire’s Coniston Hotel

The Coniston Hotel and Country Estate in Yorkshire has begun work on a 1,533sq m (16,500sq ft) spa, set to open in the autumn.

The spa, which will be located in a separate building next to the hotel, will feature eight treatment rooms, thermal facilities, dining and relaxation areas, an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor pool, a terrace, a gym, a dance studio and a manicure/pedicure area.

Open both to hotel and outside guests, the spa will also offer a membership programme, opening in the spring.

Spa consultant Nick Kurran, whose previous projects include Grayshott Spa in Surrey, The Dorchester Spa in London and Champneys health spa resorts, is working on the development.

Michael Bannister, chairman of The Coniston Hotel, said: “It’s going to be an exciting 2015 for all involved in the development of the spa and the hotel, and we’re expecting that before the end of the year we will have created a fantastic new facility for our hotel guests and local residents.

The hotel expects the spa to create around 35 new jobs in the area.
