Arizona Spa & Wellness Association appoints Paul Schmidt

The Arizona Spa & Wellness Association has announced the appointment of Paul Schmidt as director of sustainability and new partnerships.

Schmidt was previously executive director of the Green Spa Network.

Mia Mackman, founder and president of the Arizona Spa & Wellness Association praised his “energy, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit”.

Mackman explained that Schmidt’s remit will include: “Expanding the association in Arizona by creating new sustainability initiatives and developing new partnerships.”

Schmidt’s previous experience includes developing curriculums for spa industry education providers, including the Utah College of Massage and Eagle Gate College in Salt Lake City.

His careers also spans serving as executive spa director for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts and sitting on the boards of the Healing Mountain Massage School and International Spa Association.

The Arizona Spa & Wellness Association was established by Mackman in 2012 to “foster information sharing between spas and wellness providers to support industry growth”.

The association held its first event, the Arizona Spa & Wellness Conference, on May 16 this year, comprising elements that included networking and an education programme.
