Champneys to create spa onboard cruise ship Marella Explorer

Cruise company Marella Cruises has announced a partnership with UK health spa group Champneys.

The cruise liner’s new ship, Marella Explorer, which will begin sailing in the summer of 2018, will feature an onboard Champneys spa.

The spa on the Marella Explorer, one of six ships in the Marella fleet, will comprise a wellness centre, relaxation room and space for salon treatments, among other facilities.

Treatments offered will range from facials, massages and body wraps, to acupuncture and manicures and pedicures.

Stephen Purdew, co-owner of Champneys, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Marella Cruises from next year, offering the very best Champneys spa experience onboard Marella Explorer.”

Champneys operates four UK spa resorts, including flagship property Champneys Tring, as well as six city day spas, and also has its own popular skincare line of professional and retail products.

Helen Caron, distribution and cruise director at TUI UK & Ireland, the parent company behind Marella Cruises, said:

“We’re delighted to announce this partnership with Champneys onboard our fantastic new addition Marella Explorer. We’re proud to be known for the friendliest service at sea and Champneys’ world-class service really mirrors this.”

Marella Explorer, which will be Marella Cruises largest ship to date, will feature ten different dining outlets, an ice cream parlour, and bar and entertainment venue The Lounge, among other amenities.
