As part of its backing for the JoinFITE (Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship) campaign, skincare house Dermalogica is inviting the industry to take part in the Mandela Day challenge on July 18.
JoinFITE is a microlending platform to help women start or grow their own business. It has already helped fund more than 14,000 micro-loans for women in over 60 countries.
JoinFITE is asking individuals to help direct 670 "micro-loans" on Mandela Day. There is no cost to the individuals but they are asked to visit joinFITE.org to view profiles and find out what each eligible entrepreneur will use her loan for. They are then able to choose which individual woman who they would like to receive the loan, which is funded by Dermalogica.
Jane Wurwand, founder of Dermalogica and joinFITE, said: “Mandela Day is a call to action for people everywhere to take responsibility for changing the world and making it a better place…women are powerful agents for change, so as we invest in women this Mandela Day, we also are investing in the futures of families and communities.”
Mandela Day pays homage to Nelson Mandela and the 67 years he has dedicated to advocating human rights.
