We talk to Lindsay Madden-Nadeau, regional spa director for Anantara in the UAE, about the challenges and characteristics of the country’s spa market and Anantara’s role within it.

 “It’s an oversaturated market, which makes it very competitive,” says Lindsay Madden-Nadeau, regional spa director for Anantara in the UAE, of the spa environment in the small Gulf state. “You’ve got to really keep on your toes and keep ahead of the market.”

Taking over as the head of the Thai hotel brand’s UAE spa operations in January this year, Madden-Nadeau overseas the four spas Anantara currently operate in and around Abu Dhabi; at desert resort Qasr Al Sarab, at Desert Islands Resort & Spa on Sir Bani Yas Island, at Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa in the city’s protected Eastern Mangroves nature district and at the Emirates Palace hotel in the heart of Abu Dhabi.
