International hotel group the Four Seasons has opened its first hotel in St Petersburg. Located in a 19th century former palace, the Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace comprises 151 rooms and 26 suites.
The hotel, which opened earlier this month following extensive renovations of the 1820 building, has been designed to reflect the imperial architecture of the historic structure, with a colour palette dominated by bright blue, yellow, turquoise and gold.
Christopher Norton, president, Europe, Middle East and Africa for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, commented: “Years of meticulous restoration and perfecting of the guest experience are setting the stage for a new era of style and luxury in St Petersburg.”
Hotel general manger Martin Rhomberg said:“ “We proudly open our doors and welcome Russians and international travellers back inside this landmark palace.”
Opening later in the year, the hotel’s Luceo spa will stretch across four floors and feature eight treatment rooms, including a VIP couple’s suite with a private lounge. Each spa changing room will be fitted out with an experience shower, a dry sauna and a Russian banya.
Among the treatments on the spa menu will be a signature aromatherapy massage, using Russian massage techniques, and the Royal Body Scrub. Brands used at the spa will include Italian skincare brand Santa Maria Novella, Hungarian brand Omorovicza and British brand Ila. The spa and wellness area will also include a 24-hour gym and a glass roof covered pool.
Dining options at the Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace includes the Tea Lounge, designed as a winter garden and offering afternoon tea with a Russian twist, the Xander Bar, complete with a library and reminiscent of a private club, and room service.
Asian restaurant Sintoho, drawing inspiration from the culinary traditions in Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong and featuring a sushi counter, opens at the end of July, while Italian restaurant Percorso – headed by Michelin-starred chef Andrea Accord and boasting its own wine cellar – opens in September.
