Four Seasons to develop third Turkish property

The Four Seasons will open a new property in the Turkish coastal town of Cesme in 2016, after signing an agreement with Dilek Gayrimenkul Yatirim ve Turizm A.S earlier this week.

Continuing its expansion − the Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti in Tanzania opened only last week – the hotel group’s most recently announced project will include 130 rooms ad suites and 16 private villas overlooking the sea.

Kathleen Taylor, president and chief executive of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, said: “When exploring expansion opportunities we always consider where our guests want to travel and as the sixth most visited country in the world, Turkey clearly tops the list for many luxury travellers. The popularity of our two existing properties in Istanbul underscores both Turkey’s appeal and the tremendous growth potential for Four Seasons in this market.”

The property, located on the Cesme Peninsula, will also feature a luxurious spa. The thermal springs for which the region is well known and a traditional Turkish bath, a hammam, are among the facilities planned.

Other amenities at the resort will include a fitness centre, several restaurants and meeting rooms and event facilities.

The Four Seasons Cesme will be the global hospitality group’s third Turkish property, following the opening of the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet in 1999 and the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at the Bosphorus in 2008.
