Global averages for therapists' salaries uncovered
Sweden is among the best places in the world to work as a spa therapist, according to the latest research from Global Spa and Wellness Summit. The research looked at the average salary of spa therapists in 10 different countries around the world, and compared them to the cost of living.
Spa therapists in Australia commanded the highest salaries, earning on average USD$3,512 per month, however they also had the highest cost of living. Swedish therapists could be paid a salary as high as those in the US, but the cost of living equates to around 89% of the US cost of living.
At the other end of the spectrum therapists in Malaysia earn around USD$300 a month, roughly 10% of the average salary in the US, but the cost of living is as much as 41%.
America records the greatest range in average salary, between $2,083 and $4,166. Spa therapists in the UK fared reasonably well, earning an average of $1,915 to $2,550 per month (71.5% of the US monthly average) with a cost of living equal to 78% of America’s.
Therapists in Australia, Sweden and Brazil do not tend to pick up extra commission for sales, however those in Canada, Hong Kong and Malaysia can collect commission on their services and retail sales.
