Global wellness leaders unite to form new industry organisation
Representatives from some of the world’s leading spa brands have joined forces to create a new organisation to promote wellness among both professionals and consumers.
The new International Health & Wellness Alliance (IHWA) was formed at the recent Global Spa and Wellness Summit, which took place in Delhi, India, with the aim of bringing together wellness professionals and innovators to define, educate and advance health and wellbeing.
Founding members of the not-for-profit alliance include Chiva-Som health resort in Thailand, Como Hotels and Resorts, Sha Wellness Clinic in Spain and Gwinganna Lifestyles Retreat in Australia, as well as spa consultants Lucie Brosseau and Samantha Foster.
Foster told Leisure Management that the alliance wants to formalise the term “wellness” and to equip the industry with evidence-based, quality information on the subject.
