Guest blog: On-trend spring/summer '15 nail looks
OPI educator Bryony McMillan talks us through the spring/summer fashion trends and how to create nails to match them
With nail art becoming ever more popular it is an obvious choice to match your clothes to your nails to really make a statement. Bold prints are going to be seen everywhere this spring and summer, from floral to geometric patterns. Such designs are really simple to replicate on the nails using the same colours in either gel or lacquer.
Geometric patterns
Use striping tape to create chevron-style neat lines. Place the tape over the base coat and base colour then apply your chosen contrasting colour and remove the tape before the colour starts to dry or cure. You can even leave on the striping tape for added colour. This particular design looks so cool using bright or neon colours and leaving parts of the nail bare to create a negative space manicure. This especially matches geometric plunging V-necks!
Floral patterns
To create these, try using a fine point brush to create more delicate and intricate flowers. Apply a small dot of colour and drag the lacquer or gel up into a tear drop shape. Use this method several times to make the petals. You can even add slight colour and blend to the bottom and inside line of the petal to bring them to life.
