GWS 2018 will delve into upcoming industry trends

The Global Wellness Institute (GWI) is to release a comprehensive wellness economy analysis at next month’s Global Wellness Summit.

GWI has identified ten key sectors of the wellness industry that are covered in its Global Wellness Economy Monitor, updated figures for which will be released at the event.

Delegates will have access to free data on beauty and anti-ageing, wellness tourism, the spa industry, wellness lifestyle real estate, fitness and mind-body, healthy eating, nutrition and weight loss; thermal/mineral springs, workplace wellness, complementary and alternative medicine; and preventative and personalised medicine and public health.

The analysis will cover the size and scope of these segments on global and regional levels, plus emerging trends. Further trend-based content will be delivered by forecaster The Future Laboratory. Researchers Jessica Smith and Rhiannon McGregor from the company’s LS:N Global trends intelligence platform are to keynote at the conference, presenting on the biggest upcoming trends in the global beauty market.

A key focus will be “algorithmic beauty”, encompassing advancements in facial-recognition technology and the rise of artificial-intelligence devices that create personalised skincare dialogues.

“The Future Laboratory, with its international team of analysts, is one of the most provocative and prescient trends forecasters, helping the world’s top brands – whether in beauty, wellness or travel – really visualise the macro- and micro-trends that are likely to shake up their businesses,” said Susie Ellis, GWS chairman and chief executive.

Operational trends will also be explored at the Summit, with a talk from father-daughter team Sir Rocco and Irene Forte of Rocco Forte Hotels on how intergenerational collaboration is influencing the future of the industry for millennials and generation Z.

The 12th-annual summit will take place October 6-8 at Technogym Village in Cesena, Italy and the fashion show will be held on October 7. This year, the theme is “Shaping the Business of Wellness”.
