Increasingly fast moving and continuously profitable, the anti-ageing market is one of the key global skincare drivers. Professional Spa & Wellness examines what customers are looking for and what spas can do to provide it.

With the realty of an ageing world population meeting a global society increasingly focused on youth and appearance, the continued strength of the anti-ageing skincare market is an unsurprising phenomenon.

February 2013 data from market research provider Mintel shows that anti-ageing skincare is a £1.5bn (US$2.3bn) industry in the US alone, a figure that is predicted to have risen to around £1.8bn (US$2.8bn) by 2017.

Mintel findings also reveal that sales of anti-ageing skincare products for the face totalled £2.2bn (€2.6bn) in the big five European markets (Germany, France, the UK, Italy and Spain) by 2010.
