Hyatt opens first Cambodia hotel

Hyatt Hotels has opened its first property in Cambodia, the Park Hyatt Siem Reap. Located in the city of the same name, home to 12th century UNESCO World Heritage Site Angkor Wat, the hotel features 108 rooms and 13 suites.

The exterior of the hotel, which previous to the 14-month renovation that predates the opening was known as the Hotel de la Paix, has been designed in a vein reminiscent of the famous towers of Angkor Wat. The property redesign is the work of Bangkok and Bali-based Bensley Design Studios.

The 242q m spa and fitness area at the Park Hyatt Siem Reap is split across several levels and includes a six-treatment room spa, complete with a steam room and a rooftop terrace with space for yoga and foot massages, a 24-hour gym and two swimming pools. The lap pool is located on the ground floor, surrounded by gardens, while the infinity swimming pool is found on the first floor.

Larry Tchou, group president of Asia Pacific at Hyatt Hotels, said: "We are delighted to be opening the first Hyatt hotel in Cambodia and the first Park Hyatt in the Southeast Asia region, signifying our on-going commitment to expansion in sought-after destinations we know our guests are traveling to."

Food and beverage outlets at the hotel include The Dining Room, serving a blend of Khmer and French cuisine, the Living Room Lounge, which features cocktails and afternoon tea on the menu, and the Glasshouse Deli Patisserie, where options include pizza, pastries and homemade ice cream.
