In the kit… with Lisa Franklin

If there’s one thing award-winning facialist Lisa Franklin knows thanks to years of experience in the beauty industry and developing her own skincare line, it’s which products are worth investing in.

As part of Professional Beauty’s ‘In the Kit’ series, the skincare expert and owner of Clinic Privé in Knightsbridge, London, shared her five favourite products of all time.

1. Lisa Franklin Rose Quartz Purifying Clay Mask

Franklin kicked off her top five with a product from her own skincare range.

The Rose Quartz Purifying Clay Mask features white kaolin and pink clay, combined with bio-actives to draw impurities to the skin’s surface while papaya enzymes gently exfoliate.

“Rose quartz plays an integral role in the products and treatments at my clinic in Knightsbridge,” shares Franklin.

“Unlike other clay masks, it leaves your skin feeling hydrated instead of stripped and tight due to the combination of hyaluronic acid and aquaxyl,” she explains.

“This product is one which will refresh the skin and leave noticeable results. The addition of rose quartz helps calm inflammation, releases tension and supports cell renewal.”

2. Delilah Farewell Concealer

Delilah’s Farewell Concealer contains hyaluronic filing sphere technology to combat the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and is a firm favourite of Franklin’s for a post-treatment glow.

“The use of make-up after a facial is welcomed, and the treatment acts as a base for concealer to blend seamlessly into the skin for that natural-looking radiance without compromising the effects of the facial,” explains Franklin.

For a flawless, glowy and natural finish, Franklin often combines the concealer with her tinted SPF30 and a glossy lip.

3. Vita Liberata

Vita Liberata is Franklin’s go-to tanning brand for colder seasons, helping her to keep up her clients summer glow well into autumn and winter without the need for UVA and UVB exposure.

“Not only does Vita Liberata maintain their ethics for the people, planet and animals as a vegan and cruelty-free product, but they share the same ethos within my own products by combining the best of nature and science together for revolutionary results,” shares Franklin.

The range uses “advoganic technology” to replace the cosmetic chemicals used in traditional tanning mousses and creams with highly potent organic botanicals, ensuring that this tan is not only kind but also long-lasting and effective for all skin types.

4. AlumierMD Recovery Balm

A favourite of Franklin’s following a clinical peel, this Recovery Balm from AlumierMD is formulated with sea whip to soothe the skin, and hinokitiol, a soothing antioxidant extracted from the oils of western red cedar trees which brightens the skin.

“Within the clinic, we offer two types of peels,” shares Franklin, adding, “Although the demand for at-home peels is on the rise, the difference in strength is significant. The peels we use require a skin specialist to perform them due to their medical-grade qualities.

“It is vital the skin is replenished and well looked after post treatment and therefore I always give a bite-sized version of the Recovery Balm to clients in order to enhance the skin's health,” says Franklin.

5. Lisa Franklin Luminescent Base

Rounding up her top five with another product from her line, Franklin selected her Luminescent Base - a silicone-free, mattifying serum that acts as a hybrid product that creates a flawless base for make-up or those no-make-up days.

“The Luminescent Base doesn’t only enhance the skin's outward appearance by evening tone, reducing fine lines, large pores and pigmentation – but it also acts as a protective layer by harnessing diamond powder and ethyl ferulate to limit the amount of UV radiation penetrating the skin and is complementary to classical sunscreen,” she shares.

Expanding on her love for the serum, Franklin says, “This product means so much to me because not only was it the first product I created, but it was the only solution I had to reduce and calm my hyper-sensitive and inflamed skin due to my pustule rosacea.”
