Into the woods

Lancashire-based fitness and leisure facility Crow Wood has splashed out on a stylish spa in a natural setting.

With value for money on the agenda for many cash-strapped consumers, now more than ever is the time for spas to create a point of difference.

The Woodland Spa in Burnley, Lancashire − part of leisure club Crow Wood − has done just that. Spending £4million on converting two indoor tennis courts into a first-class spa, father and son owners Andrew and Oliver Brown have created one of the biggest spas in the UK at a whopping 23,500sq ft, complete with standout features.

A serenity pool is one of the spa’s design highlights and a gas fire installed in the wall forms a warm backdrop for the pool in the dark cosy relaxation room. Meanwhile, a “starry sky” decorative effect is emitted from the ceiling, thanks to LED lights. Another focal point is the indoor infinity pool, which leads out to an outdoor pool, offering views of the beautiful Lancashire countryside.
