Ispa appoints new chairman and vice chairman

The International Spa Association (Ispa) has elected a new chairman and vice chairman, it has been announced.

New Ispa chairman is Todd Shaw (far left), director of spa, fitness and wellness at La Quinta Resort and Club.

Todd Hewitt (left), corporate director of spa, health clubs and recreation at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, has been appointed vice chairman.

The new appointments comes after former Ispa chairman Michael Tompkins stepped down following a change of role that saw him become a recruiter for Hutchinson Consulting.

Now in the “resource partner” rather than the “spa” category of Ispa membership, Tompkins is, according to the Ispa regulations, no longer able to serve as chairman.

This saw previous vice chairman Shaw step into the chairman role, and the appointment of Hewitt as new vice chairman. Speaking of his appointment, Shaw said: “I am grateful to have the opportunity to give back to a community that has given so much to me.

“Ispa is full of people who inspire me with their creativity and willingness to share and I am privileged to serve them and to have their trust and support.”
