Kempinski opens second Shanghai property

Luxury hotel group Kempinski has opened its 18th hotel in China, the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai. The property, previously known as the Gran Meliá Hotel Shanghai, was rebranded as a Kempinski property on May 15th and is Kempinski’s second hotel in the city.
Michael Henssler, president of Kempinski China, said: “To be present in Shanghai with two hotels is a milestone for Kempinski in China and an important strategic step for the brand.”
The hotel, which features 678 rooms and suites, also houses four restaurants, a spa and a fitness centre. Treatments available at the spa, which offers memberships, include hydrating body wraps, Abhyanga massages, ayurvedic aroma facials, an ice mask facial and the signature oxygen facial cleanse. The hotel fitness centre provides personal training sessions.
