Harrogate luxury hotel Rudding Park has announced a May opening date for its large-scale new spa development.

The £9.5 million Rudding Park spa will open on May 2 and will draw on the wellness legacy of the North Yorkshire spa town through access to the natural water on the Rudding Park grounds.

Features at the spa will include a juniper log sauna, rasul room for mud treatments, indoor swimming pool, Horto café, manicure, pedicure and makeup area, retail space and hairdressing stations.

There will also be a separate Roof Top Spa, offering views of the park surrounding the hotel. The Roof Top Spa will comprise an indoor-outdoor hydrotherapy infinity pool and a panoramic sauna with essences that will change seasonally and include birch blossom in spring and rose petal in summer.

Other Roof Top Spa features will range from the herbal steam room featuring herb essences that correspond with those grown in the Rudding Park Kitchen Garden, and a luxury steam room with a mosaic-dome starlight ceiling.

The Roof Top Spa will also have a tropical rain shower, ice fountain, foot spa and heated relaxation loungers. The new spa will also comprise the Roof Top Spa Garden created by landscape and garden designer Matthew Wilson.

Garden elements will include a sun deck, a spa bath with massage jets and underwater lighting, and a sauna.

There will also be four immersive mind and sense zones: a Visual zone with scenes of waves, meadows and mountains; a Relax zone for deep relaxation; an Audio zone with headsets playing guided meditation and healing tracks; and a Mind zone with colour therapy, puzzles, books and other features to engage the mind.

Peter Banks, managing director of Rudding Park, sad: “We are proud of what Rudding Park Spa will bring, not only to the hotel and our guests, but to Harrogate and Yorkshire.”

The spa will work with organic British skincare brand Ila; French skincare brand Carita, famous for its machine facials; natural line Elemental Herbology; and Jennifer Young – Beauty Despite Cancer.

There will be a wide range of spa breaks, spa days and Roof Top Spa Experiences on offer. These will include the Sleeping Beauty spa break, comprising an overnight stay, a 50-minute spa treatment, dinner and breakfast, and reduced green fees on the hotel’s two golf courses.

Spa Days will include a full-day option with daylong access to the spa, an arrival drink and snack, a two-course lunch and afternoon tea.
