The Global Wellness Summit has announced that medical wellness will be a key theme at this year’s summit in Austria in October.

The 2016 GWS will be held in Kitzbühel in Austria’s Tyrol region October 17-19 and organisers have announced that the agenda will reflect Austria’s and Europe’s leading position in the field of medical wellness.

Delegates at the summit, the 10th anniversary event, will hear from speakers including three members of the executive team at leading Austrian medical wellness destination Lanserhof.

Lanserhof managing director Nils Behrens (left), chief executive Dr Christian Harisch and medical director Dr Elke Benedetto-Reisch will all speak at the event.

Also confirmed as speakers are Dr. Harald Stossier and Dr Christine Stossier, founders of the renowned Viva Mayr Clinic, in Austria, Dr Harald F. König, head of medical care at top medical wellness destination Brenners Park Hotel & Spa in Germany, and Henri Chenot, founder of Italy’s Chenot Group, which operates a string of wellness centres around the world.

Susie Ellis, chairman and chief executive of the Global Wellness Summit, said: “Europe has a long and extremely successful history of developing life-changing wellness destinations that harness the best of modern and holistic medical approaches, creating programs so effective that clients return year after year.

"Decades of positive results can’t be ignored – and the entire spa and wellness industry can learn a tremendous amount from these leaders.”
