How to treat spots and blackheads and the benefits of microblading treatments are among the UK’s most searched beauty terms on Google, according to comparison platform Cosmetify’s latest data.

With salons and spas forced to close due to the coronavirus outbreak, many clients are taking to the internet to ask for help to their beauty questions.

Advice on how to manage breakouts is top at the moment with 8,900 searches, followed closely by how to cut your own hair (8,000 searches) and tips for getting rid of blackheads (7,000 searches).  

Top five most searched beauty questions in the UK:

1. How to get rid of spots? – 8,900 searches
2. How to cut your own hair? – 8,000 searches
3. How to get rid of blackheads? – 7,000 searches
4. What is microblading? – 5,800 searches
5. How to get rid of dandruff? – 5,500 searches.

What are the key skincare search terms on Google?

Of the top 20 searches, the beauty categories people look up the most are skincare and eyes, claiming five spots each, with make-up, nails and teeth coming in just behind.

For skincare, a focus on tackling spots dominates Google searches, which will likely increase due to high stress levels at the moment, as well as ways to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Top five most searched skincare questions in the UK:

1. How to get rid of spots? – 8,900 searches
2. How to get rid of blackheads? – 7,000 searches
3. How to get rid of cellulite? – 4,000 searches
4. How to get rid of stretch marks? – 3,500 searches
5. How to remove blackheads? – 3,100 searches.

Other notable skincare searches included: “How to get rid of acne scars?” – 2,700 searches; “How to look younger?” – 2,000 searches; and “What are freckles?” – 900 searches.

What are they key make-up search terms on Google?

Despite microblading being the most popular brows and eyes question by a considerable margin, tackling signs of stress and sleeplessness is also an important concern.

Top five most searched brows and eyes questions in the UK:

1. What is microblading? – 5,800 searches
2. How to get rid of dark circles? – 3,800 searches
3. How to apply eyeliner? – 3,200 searches
4. How to get rid of bags under eyes? – 3,100 searches
5. How to apply eyeshadow? – 2,800 searches.

Other notable popular brows and eyes questions included: “What are HD brows?” – 1,500 searches; “How to get rid of puffy eyes?” – 900 searches; and “What causes bags under eyes?” – 800 searches.
