Miraval group to open new resort in Texas
The Miraval group has announced the planned opening of a new property, scheduled for early 2019.
The property will be a redevelopment and expansion of the 220-acre Travaasa Austin resort in Texas, which Miraval announced the acquisition of in December.
Miraval will add 50 rooms to the property, more than double the space set aside for the spa and expand the main restaurant.
There are also plans to add several new features that have not yet been officially confirmed. These include what the group describes as “a unique equine experience that will be integral to Miraval”.
The property will continue to operate as Travaasa Austin during the renovation process and will be relaunched as Miraval Austin at the beginning of 2019.
The Miraval group also includes the original resort in Tuscon Arizona; the Miraval Life in Balance Spa at Monarch Beach in California, which opened in 2016; and plans for a further resort, in Lenox, Massachusetts – a redevelopment of what is currently the Cranwell Spa & Golf Resort.
Steven Rudnitsky, president and chief executive of the Miraval group, said: “We selected Travaasa Austin for a host of reasons, including its hilltop location that provides extraordinary views of Lake Travis and a sense of place.
[It’s] surrounded by protected lands, providing privacy and protection from distractions of the outside world ─ key attributes of the Miraval experience.”
