National Spa Awareness Week to focus on stress
The UK’s National Spa Awareness Week (NSAW), taking place November 4-8, will this year focus on tackling stress and raising public awareness of the role spas can play in combatting it.
The recently formed UK Spa Association – established following the fusing of the Spa Business Association and the British International Spa Association – has teamed up with the International Stress Management Association and military charity Combat Stress to highlight the growing health problem.
Charlie Thompson, chair of the UK Spa Association, said: “Research by [mental health charity] Mind has found that stress is at an all time high, with stress over debt or finances at 30% and stress over health at 17%. One of the answers [to this] can be found in the spa industry.”
The awareness campaign is predicted to involve more than 250 spas and salons across the UK, with participating businesses signing up to run at least one event providing stress management advice during the week.
