New initiatives connect cancer patients with industry

Spa Finder 365, media marketing company for the spa and wellness industry, has announced its partnership with Wellness for Cancer, an organisation that provides standardised cancer-focused training and business criteria for the wellness industry, to help provide people who are living or have experienced cancer with access to wellness providers who are trained to treat them.

In addition, special training programs will be offered at or below cost by Wellness for Cancer instructors to Spafinder Wellness 365 partners who would like to increase their level of comfort and confidence in delivering safe and nurturing services for this clientele. The non-profit organization offers a flexible, cancer-focused educational platform, including solutions to train multiple staff and departments.

Members of Spa Finder who want to provide services to those affected by this illness can apply for “Cancer Aware” Basic or Comprehensive Certification through Wellness for Cancer at spafinder.com/wfc.

Once a business or practitioner is verified, it will be identified as a “Cancer Aware” provider on spafinder.com, allowing people to easily find qualified wellness providers who can offer safe, effective services, such as therapeutic massage and manicures.

Separately, Ellie's Friends, a new cancer charity, is seeking the support of the beauty industry to bring fun and relaxing experiences into the lives of people with cancer.

Ellie's Friends is not looking for financial donations, but is seeking support from the beauty industry to pledge discounted or even free products or treatments, which will help to make the lives of people with cancer more bearable and, as Ellie’s Friends' slogan states, “making the big C feel smaller”.

Ellie's Friends was originally hosted on Facebook, but due to its success has launched a dedicated website (www.elliesfriends.org) linking cancer sufferers with pledged experiences.
