One in five American takes wellness breaks

The majority of Americans are interested in taking a wellness-focused holiday, according to new research from Spafinder Wellness 365. A survey of 1,000 Americans, carried out in June, reveals that 62% would like to take a holiday focused on wellness, while 20% already have. 

The vast majority, 96%, of those who already have taken a wellness-centric holiday said it improved their wellbeing. A high percentage, 76%, of respondent said the trip had helped reduce stress and anxiety, while 75% said it that had boosted their mood and improved their state of mind. 

A slightly lower number, 35%, said it had helped them to get fit or lose weight, while 34% stated that it had helped them kick-start a healthier lifestyle. When asked which factors were most important to them when booking a health-focused trip, 70% said it was healthy cuisine, 58% nature and outdoor experiences, 56% fitness activities, 43% yoga and 41% mindfulness and meditation. 

The three most popular destinations among Americans looking for a healthy holiday are Hawaii, the US west coast and the Caribbean.
