Online directory of spas and salons that treat people touched by cancer to launch next year

Professional Beauty Group has begun development of an international online directory of spas, salons and practitioners that offer spa and beauty treatments for people living with, or recovering from, cancer.

The directory will be a not-for-profit initiative that will offer a free listing to any business or individual, anywhere in the world, that treats cancer patients and has a qualification to do so, from an accredited training provider.

Consumers will be able to search the directory to find treatments close to where they are, whether they are at home or travelling anywhere in the world, and to discover out more about the businesses offering them.

Professional Beauty Group is currently consulting with the relevant training providers and industry experts with a view to launching the model to the trade and inviting businesses to sign-ups in early January 2020. The target date for consumer launch is March 2020.

The initiative is being funded by Professional Beauty Group, which owns the World Spa & Wellness, Professional Beauty brands, among others.

It will be a not-for-profit model that will be free to access for all parties. If any revenue is generated in the future, via sponsorship for example, it would be invested back into developing the site or into supporting the profession.

Professional Beauty Group managing director Mark Moloney said: “Consumers are confused about where to go for treatments, and the therapists and businesses that offer these treatments deserve recognition. We’re launching this because we have a duty to promote the good that is going on in the industry. Some believe the directory should be open to all qualified practitioners, others believe it should start by focusing solely on spas, I’d be really grateful for feedback at [email protected].
