Online treatment promotions deemed a potential risk
Online promotions of non-surgical medical procedures such as Botox, microdermabrasion, fillers and chemical peels could be placing consumers in jeopardy, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).
The association warns that consumers who purchase these types of treatments on discount deal sites like Groupon and Living Social are in danger of forgetting that, while non-surgical, such procedures should nevertheless be carried out by qualified medical practitioners.
Jack Fisher, president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, said: “Cost is always a factor, but it should never be the deciding factor in cosmetic surgery. Safety and quality are always the key issues.”
