Our View from the Beauty Closet: AHAVA's Facial Renewal Peel

AHAVA’s Facial Renewal Peel is the latest product I’ve been trialing from our beauty closet, and one that in theory should work nicely on my skin. AHAVA claim the peel is a ‘gift from nature’, with its unique blend of Dead Sea minerals designed to gently dissolve dead skin cells and promote cell renewal for a more radiant, and even complexion.

Having gone a little AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) crazy at the moment following my success story with Alpha H’s Liquid Gold resurfacing treatment, I was happy to try another chemical facial exfoliant. The peel contains AHAVA’s Osmoter complex, Dead Sea minerals and is infused with pure Vitamin C, the delivery of which is stabilized by the product’s high concentration of Dead Sea water.

Being wary of Vitamin C following a rather unfortunate home treatment incident (don’t mix pure Vitamin C Ascorbic Acid with water and put it on your face), I was rather nervous, however this is a very gentle treatment.

It smells fruity and sea...y? and has a honey like consistency, applying in a thick, sticky layer to the face. There is no irritation with this product, although I found it had a rather subtle warming action and tingled ever so slightly. Having used it for a good few weeks, I can say my sensitive skin experienced no side-effects or strange, bubonic reactions…again don’t put pure Vitamin C crystals on your face kids.

It made my skin brighter, promoting cell turnover in a decidedly gentle way without the need for any grainy manual scrubbing. If you want to dip your toes into the chemical exfoliant world, this is a nice one to start with.

Discover Ahava's range on stand E27 at Professional Beauty North, taking place on 13-14 October at Manchester Central. Register here for your free ticket and avoid the £20 entry fee on the door.
