Salon owner to take on Lord Sugar in The Apprentice
Beauty salon owner Jenna Whittingham will battle it out to win £250,000 of investment into a new business startup, plus advice from business guru and host Lord Sugar. Whittingham, 25, who owns Beauty and the Boutique in Penwortham, Lancashire, will be one of 16 contestants competing in this year's series, which kicks off on March 21. Before opening her current site, Whittingham ran a smaller salon, called Radiance, based above Cloud 9 hair salon in Fishergate Hill. Describing herself for the show, Whittingham said: 'My personality and character is 'once seen, never forgotten'.' She also told the apprentice team she had never been away from home for more than a week and cannot cook or clean. It will come as no surprise to some that Lord Sugar selected a beauty therapist and salon owner to appear on this year's show, following his declaration last year that beauty is a highly profitable market and is the industry he would choose to move into if starting up a new business. In the last series of the show, one episode even saw the contestants choose from a selection of professional brands before setting up a pop-up salon in a shopping centre.
