“Silent Night” returns to Mandarin Oriental spas on December 12

The Mandarin Oriental hotel group has announced that it will hold the annual “Silent Night” in its spas across the world on December 12.

Taking place for the third year, Silent Night sees the Mandarin Oriental spas around the globe “turn down the volume” by switching music off and implementing a no talking policy after 5pm on December 12.

The Silent Night initiative was introduced in 2015, to encourage spa-goers to disconnect, take a step back from technology and enjoy spending time in silence.

Treatments will be available as normal, with consultations kept brief to minimise conversation. Jeremy McCarthy, group spa director at Mandarin Oriental, said:

“During this stressful time of the year, we want to create a space where people can press the pause button and have some time to think, meditate, or just take a break from being inundated with noise.”

The Mandarin Oriental is also encouraging guests to take advantage of its Digital Wellness initiative, designed to help people disconnect from technology and encourage a “digitally balanced” lifestyle.

The Digital Wellness intiative includes tips and advice on "establishing personal boundaries on the use of technology and clear mental chatter".
