Wellness-focused US property Blackberry Farm has announced the opening of a new resort, Blackberry Mountain, in 2018.
Like the business’s existing property, Blackberry Mountain will be located in the Great Smoky Mountain region in the state of Tennessee. The resort will be situated on 5,200 acres of land, 2,800 of which will be set aside as a conservation area.
This is in keeping with policy underpinning the family-owned Blackberry properties, a policy that includes a focus on preserving the land. Blackberry Mountain will open with six traditional cabins, 13 cottages and several multi-bedroom homes, all with mountain views.
Amenities at the resort will include an eight treatment-room spa with an infinity-pool, among other features. The spa will be using products “inspired by the land”. Other wellness facilities will include a yoga studio, spin studio, fitness centre, gym and basketball court.
The resort will also offer a wide range of other outdoor and indoor physical activities, both on and off-site. These include horseback riding, rock climbing, camping, fly fishing paddle sports, hiking, mountain biking, foraging and tree climbing.
There will also be two restaurants on the property, serving seasonal cuisine centred on ingredients from the land that surrounds the resort. Blackberry proprietor Mary Celeste Beal said: “Breaking ground on Blackberry Mountain is the culmination of many dreams.
“The ultimate goal has always been to protect the land for our community and future generations but also to take all we learned from Blackberry Farm and create something from scratch.
“We want guests to go outside, explore and connect with each other while they discover what this beautiful mountain has to offer.” Blackberry Mountain will be located a 20-minute drive from Blackberry Farm.
