In our exclusive video, Fiona Brackenbury, education director for French skincare brand Decléor, reveals why anti-pollution and pigmentation are beauty buzzwords this year and how you can treat these skin issues effectively in salon.
The leading skincare issues for 2017 are:
-
Anti-pollution
“We know that the sun is the number one most harmful aggression to the skin but the second most harmful is free radicals, and when you get pollution, and you get it as bad as it was in London earlier this year, then we know that we have a problem,” explains Brackenbury.
“For us as beauty therapists, we need to make sure we’re educating clients because the damage [of pollution] to the skin is incredible.”
-
Pigmentation
“As therapists we’ve always known that pigmentation has been a problem but now we’re realising it doesn't have to be a large area, we’re now associating it with uneven skin tone,” says Brackenbury.
“However, the one thing people aren’t familiar with is that stress can cause pigmentation as well – when your skin is stressed and under attack, it produces pigmentation.”
