AW17 make-up tutorial – winter brights
Candy-coloured eye make-up is set to be big this winter. The AW17 catwalks were awash with models rocking bright hues traditionally worn in spring/summer but paired with a flawless base and neutral lips to keep the look balanced.
At New York Fashion Week (NYFW), models on Vivienne Westwood’s runway showcased bright, solid smoky eye shapes and single elliptical rings in sweet-inspired shades; while at MFW in Milan, Wunderkind kept it simple with chunky winged liner in rich pinks and royal blues on the top lid only.
Kirstie Bower, make-up artist and educator for Mii Cosmetics, which is distributed by Gerrard International, says to create this look in salon you need to strip it back. “The key is picking one bold shadow that suits your client and then patting it in to stop any dropping of colour,” she explains.
To bring in a striking pink hue, Bower advises using the popular draping technique – sculpting the face using blush only – “as it creates that strong, bold cheek without the need for contour,” she adds.
