What you need to know about mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is fast becoming more popular to create glowing skin for clients. “People still love toxin and filler of course, but that doesn’t help you with your skin. Mesotherapy gives you back that glow that we love and have in youth,” says Hansford.
“The superficial injections that can be done by beauty therapists are the best, because it provides hydration,” he says. “Look at the French – they don’t do facials but they do this on a regular basis and it’s better in the skin, rather than just sitting on the surface.”
Use registered mesotherapy products
The most important thing, says Hansford, “is that the mesotherapy cocktail has to be registered and it has to be a medical device.” He explains that it’s imperative to check a brand’s clinical trials, white papers, its backstory and evidence before taking it on. “If they don’t have that, then just walk away,” he says.
Performing a mesotherapy treatment
There are several ways to perform a mesotherapy treatment. “Mesotherapy is the implantation of product, through a syringe,” says Hansford. However, a gun can also be used if you don’t want to use a syringe, and these are becoming more popular.
“You can use devices that use a positive electric current to push the product in too,” says Hansford. However, “the molecular weight is tiny so you won’t get it anywhere near as deep as you will with a syringe, but you’ll get it close enough to where the growth factors are kick-starting, to be able to help restore naturally,” he says.
Combining mesotherapy with treatments
Hansford says that mesotherapy can work well post-laser and after microneedling too, as it restores the skin. “You can do it if you want to combine the therapies or the protocols in relation to someone who has collagen loss, so that’s needling’s protocol, but they also want to help restore the natural balance of the skin, which is not what needling is for. But combining the two together is great,” he says.
