Psychedelic treatments offered in Scotland for the first time

Scotland's first psychedelic clinic has opened its doors. Eulas, a progressive, first-of-its-kind facility, is dedicated to cutting-edge psychedelic therapies for mental health and wellness. The clinic combines evidence-based psychedelic therapies with holistic wellness programmes.

Psychedelics have long been touted as a groundbreaking treatment for stress and depression but until recently have largely been inaccessible in a clinical setting, making this opening a significant leap forward in mental health care.

Eulas offers a range of evidence-based treatments, including ketamine therapy, psychotherapy, virtual reality (VR) therapy, breath work and stroboscopic light therapy.

Under the supervision of medical professionals, ketamine is administered in a safe and controlled environment, alongside psychotherapy where therapists help individuals explore and address underlying emotional and psychological issues.

Patients can gain valuable insights, develop coping strategies and foster long-term resilience through regular sessions.

Virtual reality therapy offers an immersive experience by creating virtual environments tailored to each patient’s needs. VR therapy enables individuals to confront and overcome their fears and anxieties in a controlled and supportive setting and has shown great promise in clinical studies.

Meanwhile, stroboscopic light therapy utilises rhythmic light patterns to stimulate brain activity and promote positive neural connections. This therapy has shown potential in enhancing cognitive function, mood regulation and emotional wellbeing.

In the future, Eulas plans to expand services to provide innovative treatment options for alcoholism, which is often linked to untreated or resistant depression. This expansion will follow the completion of its phase three study, set to be completed early next year.

“At Eulas, we believe in the transformative power of psychedelic medicine to open new pathways to true healing and personal growth. Our mission is to provide safe and compassionate care to those seeking relief from the mental health challenges they’re facing," said John Gillen, founder of Eulas.

"We’re dedicated to ensuring that our effective mental health treatment remains affordable. Our hope is that in the future, these treatments will be recognised under the NHS, making them accessible to a broader population.”
