Luxury hotel group GHM is to open three new properties in Taiwan by 2018, in partnership with development company Elements Innovations.
The Chedi Club Zhudong, the Chedi Zhudong and the Serai will form part of the 500,000sq m mountain development Eutopia, located an hour’s drive from the capital Taipei, and will provide views of the nearby Wuzhi Mountains.
The Chedi Club Zhudong, set to open in 2018, will be composed of 25 forest villas, each offering a private butler service, while the Chedi Zhudong scheduled to open in 2017, will comprise 92 guest rooms and suites and will include a spa and health club, a 50m infinity pool, restaurants and meeting rooms.
Meanwhile the Serai, with a 2016 opening date, will feature 200 rooms and suites. The properties will constitute GHM's first hotels in the country.
GHM president Hans R. Jenni said: “Taiwan is a relatively unexploited but compelling destination and in Eutopia, we have the vehicle to create a unique travel experience and to draw greater interest to Taiwan.”
The Eutopia development will also include a wildlife park, a winery, art galleries, restaurants, a theatre, a shopping centre and a biomedical spa. It is designed by Malaysia-based architect Jean-Michel Gathy, whose projects include upcoming GHM property the Chedi Andermatt in Switzerland – due to open in the winter of 2013/2014.
