Yvonne Ebdon named GM at UK Spa Association as Helena Grzesk joins British Beauty Council

Yvonne Ebdon has been announced as the UK Spa Association’s (UKSA) new general manager as Helena Grzesk steps down after four years in the role to join the British Beauty Council as chief operating officer.

Ebdon, a long-standing board member and with 20 years’ experience in hospitality and spa, will work alongside chairman Adam Chatterley to support UKSA members and raise the profile of the spa and wellness sector.

"I’m incredibly passionate about the work that we do, and I feel so lucky and proud to have been on the board for almost five years. I’m absolutely honoured and delighted to be taking the role of general manager and look forward to supporting you all in your businesses and continuing to raise the profile of the spa sector,” said Ebdon.

“I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank Helena for all of her hard work. She has been a true leader and inspiration to myself and many within the industry and I’m honoured to be stepping into her shoes."

Grzesk has stepped down from the role because she is joining the British Beauty Council (BBC) as its chief operating officer, working alongside Millie Kendal.

In this new role, Grzesk will be a key part of the task force at the BBC, which is working to strengthen the voice of the wider beauty industry, including spa and wellness in the coming months.

Grzesk said: “I'm absolutely thrilled and incredibly excited to be joining the British Beauty Council as chief operating officer. Having worked closely with Millie as part of the Business Energy and Industrial Strategy Department’s Personal Care Taskforce over the past few months, I've been inspired by the work of the organisation and the Road Map for 2021.

"I believe that we can inspire change and successfully steer the future trajectory, reputation and recognition of the sector. There's a positive outlook for the future of beauty.”

Grzesk has more than 20 years’ experience in the beauty, spa and hospitality industry, including working as the pre-opening director of spa at The Spa at The Midland in Manchester, where she developed the 22 times multi-award-winning spa as a £1.6 million investment build project.

Congratulations to both Ebdon and Grzesk on their new roles.
