The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) has launched a UK-wide competition to recognise and reward innovation in the beauty industry.
Launched in collaboration with Professional Beauty and Olympia Beauty, the £8,000 prize is open to businesses and individuals with an idea for a product or service not previously seen in the industry. Entrants will need to be able to demonstrate that their invention is commercially viable.
BABTAC chair Carolyne Cros said: “This competition will showcase the professionalism of the industry and reinforce the fact that beauty professionals have to excel at business, finance and publicity, as well as be highly trained in their field.”
Deadline for submissions is July 31. Candidates will be whittled down to a four or five person strong shortlist by December 1, with each finalist giving a ten-minute live presentation to the competition jury at Professional Beauty London in February next year. Following a format similar to that of popular TV show Dragons’ Den, the jury will consist of a BABTAC panel of industry experts.
To enter, send your idea, summarised in no more than 400 words, and application form to: marketing@babtac.com. The application form can be found at: www.babtac.com/innovation
