Botox receives FDA approval for crow’s feet treatment
Botox has been approved as a treatment for crow’s feet and wrinkles around the eyes by the Food and Drug Administration in America. The injectable treatment is only approved for use in very specific areas, such as the forehead, and up until now was not recommended for treating the eye area, despite reports that practitioners have been doing so for a number of years.
Scott W Whitcup, executive vice president for research and development at Botox manufacturer Allergan, said, “We are please that the FDA has approved a new indication for Botox to temporarily improve the appearance of crow’s feet lines.”
He added that with this approval, Botox is the only pharmaceutical approved to treat both crow’s feet and frown lines between the brows.
The FDA approval was the result of a study conducted by Allergan, which found that participants saw a greater reduction in crow’s feet after using Botox to treat the area.Botox has been approved as a treatment for crow’s feet and wrinkles around the eyes by the Food and Drug Administration in America.
