Centara to open second Sri Lankan property

Centara Hotels & Resorts is set to open its second property in Sri Lanka, the Centara Ceysands Resort & Spa, in the spring of 2014. The hotel will be located on the Bentota peninsula on the south of the island, flanked by the Bentota River and the Indian Ocean.

The 165-room and suite property, at which guests will arrive by barge on the river, will feature a Spa Cenvaree, Centara’s in-house spa brand, which will offer a blend of Indian and Sri Lankan treatments.

Other wellness amenities at the hotel will include a fitness centre, an ocean view swimming pool and a whirlpool. Dining options will range from the 360 Seafood restaurant and the Ceylon Club, to Café Beam, serving a blend of Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine.

Chris Bailey, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Centara Hotels & Resorts, said: “Bentota is one of the most exciting destinations in Sri Lanka, and our two resorts give us a very significant profile in this strongly growing market.”

The opening of Centara Ceysands Resort & Spa follows the opening of Centara’s inaugural Sri Lankan property, the Centara Passikudah Resort & Spa, at the beginning of 2013.
